Answer the phone with a SMILE – smile when you’re talking.

Keep your answers focused on the questions asked.

Be a GOOD LISTENER.

BE PREPARED to answer questions about yourself:   SOME of the most popular…

  • What are your strengths / weaknesses?
  • What interests you about this job?
  • Give an example of an occasion when you used logic to solve a problem.
  • Why do you want this job?
  • What applicable attributes / experience do you have?
  • Why are you the best person for the job?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • What do you know about this company?
  • Why do you want to work for this organization?
  • What challenges are you looking for in a position?
  • What can you contribute to this company?
  • Have you handled a difficult situation with a co-worker? How?
  • Tell me about how you worked effectively under pressure.
  • Are you willing to travel?
  • Is there anything I haven't told you about the job or company that you would like to know?

Speak about the areas you can be beneficial to the client.

Take time to think (Do not be afraid).

It is acceptable to say, “I do not know” or say “I am not sure but here is what I think” or “My best guess is”.  Tell the truth. 

BE PREPARED to answer TECHNICAL questions based on your skills and the job requirement.

NEVERs

  • Never speak over someone – LISTEN to the complete comment/question
  • Never speak negatively about prior experiences with people, jobs, or supervisors.
  • Never discuss money.
  • Never give the indication that any task is “beneath” you.  Convey a professional willingness to “do whatever it takes to get the job done”.
  • Never answer questions with one word (yes/no), expound on it.  For example “Yes, I had to do something like that…

Finish the CALL -----

  • Ask – What is the next step in this process?
  • Positive comment.  (e.g.  “Thank you for your time, I am looking forward to working with you on this project.”)

Contact us for de-briefing as soon as possible after the interview (so it is fresh in your mind).
